Why I Started Choosing Non-Toxic & Why It Doesn’t Have to Be All or Nothing
I used to spray down the counters, mop the floors, and wipe every surface with products that were marketed as “fresh” and “clean.”
But the truth? They left me with headaches. I’d feel lightheaded, foggy — like I couldn’t quite catch my breath.
I thought I was just sensitive. That maybe it was normal to feel that way after cleaning. But then I became a mother. And everything shifted.
If those scents had such a profound effect on me, what could they be doing to my babies? To their tiny bodies, their still-developing lungs and immune systems?
That question hit me hard — and it sparked a deep desire to create a safer, calmer home.
I started looking at the products I was using every day — on my floors, in the air, on my children’s skin — and I realized that so many of them were filled with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce, let alone trust.
So I began to switch things out. Slowly. Intentionally.
And what started as a few small swaps turned into a lifestyle rooted in wellness, simplicity, and peace of mind.
What I’ve Learned
Non-toxic living isn’t about being perfect. It’s not about getting it all right.
It’s about becoming aware — and from there, making small, empowered choices that support your family’s health.
You don’t have to throw everything out. You don’t need to buy expensive products or change your whole life overnight.
You just start where you are.
Maybe that’s switching out your all-purpose cleaner for something plant-based. Maybe it’s swapping dryer sheets for wool balls. Maybe it’s just becoming a more curious label-reader.
Every swap matters. Every step counts. And over time, those little shifts create a home that feels better — for your body, your babies, and your peace of mind.
Where I Started
For me, the biggest triggers were synthetic fragrances in cleaning supplies, candles, and laundry products.
So I started there.
I ditched the chemical sprays and swapped in a safe, concentrated cleaner I could use on everything.
I traded harsh, artificial candles for essential oils and gentle, non-toxic diffusers.
I simplified my laundry routine with products that didn’t leave a chemical cloud behind on our clothes.
It wasn’t about making a million changes at once. It was about doing what I could, when I could. And honestly? That’s what made it sustainable.
Why It Matters
As moms, we want to do everything we can to keep our families safe and healthy. But that doesn’t mean we need to chase perfection or live in fear.
This journey is about empowerment — about realizing that we get to decide what we bring into our homes. It’s about creating a space that feels good to breathe in, move through, and grow up in.
You deserve that. Your kids deserve that. And the good news? You don’t have to do it all today.
